Power a Fluorescent Bulb with the Plasma Ball 360 Lightning Globe

Shooting plasma rods, dancing light, glowing bolts of energy. This all sounds like it comes out a science fiction movie…and it just might be but what I’m talking about here is the most incredible Plasma 360 Ball. This is truly The BEST Plasma Ball Available! This 360 degrees lightning ball is full of cool and electrifying energy! It truly has to be seen in person to be fully appreciated. It looks like a regular glass ball when it’s off but power it on and WHOA! be amazed. Turn the lights down and do a double WHOA!!. Check out the video below to see it in action.

The science this incredible lightning ball a miniature tesla coil. The electrons  are passing through and oscillating at a high frequency. This causes the atoms to shake off their electrons which is the plasma light you see dancing around the sphere. Do really cool plasma tricks such as  turn yourself into a human lightbulb and power up a fluorescent bulb! Just touch your finger or the bulb to the glass sphere and watch what happens…See video below

Touch the 360 Plasma Ball with one finger or hand while standing on a chair, then hold a fluorescent bulb in the other hand and watch it light up!! Make sure you don’t touch the ends of the bulb because it  heats up! Also, be careful not to break the glass on the plasma ball. The reason this happens is because the electrons pass through you and since you’re not on the ground, the electrons don’t pass through you, but rather fills you up. Get your own 360 Plasma Ball or check out our mini plasma ball.

Amazing Science Magic with Disappearing Balls!

This is science at its finest. This science experiment is an awesome magic trick as well. It involves, polymers, refraction and of course a really cool science trick! It’s all included in our Amazing Spheres Set and in our Big Bag of Science Mega Experiment Kit

You start off with about 100 tiny dot sized balls in clear and in rainbow colors. Place the balls in a clear jar or cup of water. The balls start growing and within an hour it appears that the cup with the clear balls is empty, however, if you stick your hand in the cup you are in for a surprise! You will feel tons of squishy crystal balls! Lift them out of the water to show that they exist but as soon as they drop back down into the water they seem to disappear!

The secret to this amazing science magic is the word “refraction”. The tiny clear balls absorb the water and therefore the balls have the same “index of refraction” as the water making it virtually invisible!

What’s equally amazing is after you are done with the experiment, leave the balls out to dry on a paper towel overnight and it will slowly go back to its original tiny size! Check out the video to see the cool science experiment of polymers in action!

Liquid Light Rainbow Science Experiment

Physical Light, Liquid Light, Chemical Light, Natural sunlight, Lightbulbs….what do all these have in common? They’re all discussed and needed in the Liquid Light Rainbow Science Experiment. It’s a great experiment to do with kids of all ages and explores many science principles. It shows the differences of physical color, chemical color and light. Basically it will show that when you mix physical colors together, i.e. paint, what you will eventually get if you keep mixing is a muddy brown/black color. When you mix light however, the opposite happens, it doesn’t turn black but instead you get white light! Mixing chemicals can go both ways. You can mix chemicals to get a black color as in the Incredible Iodine Clock Reaction Kit  and change it back to clear as in the Fascinating Oscillating Clock Reaction Kit. You can create every color in the rainbow as in the Multi-Color Red Cabbage Indicator. The steps to do the Liquid Light Color Demonstration is listed below:

1) Start off with a clear piece of glass and the 3 primary colors of paint on the glass (Blue, Red, Yellow). Mix all 3 colors on the glass and show that it beomes dark and black.

2) Take 3 chemical light-sticks (crack-in-half glow sticks) activate them and carefully, while wearing plastic gloves, cut open the tops and pour them into 3 separate cups. You now have 3 glowing cups of colored light. Now pour all the colors into one cup. You will have a slightly reddish hue to the light. Explain that the light is really white but the red tint is due to the dye in the red glow stick. To prove that this light is white, dip a paper towel in the glowing cup of liquid, shut the lights, and show everyone that the paper towel is now glowing white! All the colors mixed to create white light!

3) Prove that white light such as sunlight, bulbs, are really a mix of every color in the rainbow by taking the 3-D Rainbow Fireworks Glasses and looking at a light. (Do not look directly at the sun) Now you’ll see how the light is split up  into every color of the rainbow giving proof that regular light is a mixture of every color. You can also see this by using the awesome White Rainbow Lightning Stick.
